"All American: Art Songs and Musical Theater" November 9, 2013 at Dahmen Barn


On Saturday, November 9, Artisans at the Dahmen Barn presents All American: Art Songs and Musical Theater at 7:30 pm.  Brian Carter, tenor, with Juliana Witt on piano perform music by Aaron Copeland, Arthur Farwell, Richard Hundley, Stephen Sondheim and Richard Rodgers.  Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for students.  Children 12 and under are free.

A native of High Point, North Carolina, Brian Carter is an Instructor of Music at Washington State University where he teaches Studio Voice, Vocal Literature, Diction for Singers, Musical Style in Composition, and Rock History and Social Analysis.  He recently completed his Doctorate degree at the University of Michigan.  Carter has appeared locally as a soloist for the Washington-Idaho Symphony and the Palouse Choral Society and also both nationally and internationally.  Juliana Witt is a teaching assistant at Washington State University and has performed with chamber groups, duos, a university band, jazz ensemble and musical theatre productions.

Artisans at the Dahmen Barn is a non-profit creativity center in Uniontown, in the big white barn behind the famous iron wheel fence.  The facility is fully handicap accessible and has no daily admission fee.  It is open Thursday through Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.  Information:  www.artisanbarn.org or 509-229-3414.
