Registration by August 6, 2013 for Carrie Vielle's August 10, 2013 Workshop on Drawing Perspective


Learn to draw perspective at the Dahmen Barn on August 10, 2013. From 10:00 am to 3:30 pm, accomplished sketch artist Carrie Vielle will hold a workshop on drawing perspective, which is the illusion of depth and three-dimensional space -- a challenging but important component to drawings and paintings striving for realism.
 
The class is for ages 16 and older.  The cost is $75 with students bringing a few materials (see website).  Please register by August 6 using the form at the top of the calendar page at www.artisanbarn.org or call 509-229-3414.

July 31, 2013 Deadline for Map Inclusion to Palouse, Wash., August 3, 2013 City-Wide Yard Sale


The Palouse Chamber of Commerce City-wide yard sale is Saturday, August 3, 2013.
 
If you want your sale on the map, please come sign up at City Hall, no later than next Wednesday, July 31, 2013. There is a $2 charge to be on the map, payable to the Palouse Chamber of Commerce.

Registration Due August 3, 2013 Leafe and Flower Pounding Workshop

On Saturday, August 10, 2013, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, resident fiber artist Ellen Kundrat will hold a workshop on leaf and flower pounding, a technique for transferring pigment onto fabric.  This class is for teens through adults, with a minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 8.

All skill levels are welcome.  The cost is $40, with students providing some of the materials.  Register by August 3 by using the form on the top of the calendar page at www.artisanbarn.org or call 509-229-3414.

On Sacred Grounds, in Valleyford, Washington, is introducing a new line of pastries and bread from Alpine Bakery, including sweet bars, scones, cinnamon rolls, artisan bread including gluten-free varieties.
All new pastries are on sale for $1, plus sharing your opinion of them with Elaine. Walk-in customers have a chance to try some fresh artisan bread for free ~~ for letting her know what you think.

Starting next week, On Sacred Grounds will introduce Hump-Day Delights!  Celebrating the middle of the week.  Fresh selections arrive Tuesday evening.

Registration Due July 9, 2013 for Carrie Vielle Travel Sketchbook Workshop


Travel Sketchbook workshop scheduled at the Dahmen Barn


On Saturday, July 13 from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm, resident artisan Carrie Vielle will hold a workshop on maintaining a travel sketchbook at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown.
 
In addition to general sketching-on-location techniques, Carrie will share lots of creative ideas on how you can record the sites, sounds, smells and more of your journeys!  Says Carrie: “One of my greatest joys when traveling is capturing unique memories with a pencil over a camera!” This class is for ages 16 and older. Drawing experience is helpful but not necessary. The cost is $75 with students bringing materials listed on the website calendar.

Cowboy Poet Bob Marshall to Perform at Dahmen Barn July 14, 2013


On Sunday, July 14 at 2:00 pm, award winning cowboy poet Bob Marshall will perform Western music, cowboy poetry and storytelling at the Dahmen Barn.  This will be an outdoor concert on the hillside behind the Barn.  Bring a blanket for the hillside or sit in chairs provided. 
 
Singer/songwriter Bob Marshall doesn’t just sing about the American West and a country lifestyle, he projects its heart to all who will take time to listen.
 
A ranch owner and professional rodeo cowboy, Bob’s music and stage presentation reveals his journey of growth as an artist over forty years.   Accompanying Bob will be two members of the Palouse Country Cowboy Poetry Association, "Awesome" Jim Aasen and Jim Bullard.  Admission is $10 at the door.

Registration Due by July 6, 2013 for First th for 7th annual Summer Creativity Series for Kids


7th annual Summer Creativity Series for kids begins at the Dahmen Barn on July 11, 2013.

Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown has a fun series of creativity sessions lined up for kids aged 6 to 12.  Beginning July 11 and going for 6 consecutive Thursday afternoons from 1:00 to 3:45, two topics are offered each day with a healthy snack in between.  All the instructors are experienced working with kids.  Thanks to a grant from the U S Bancorp Foundation, the cost per afternoon will be $12 this year, down from $20 in the past.  Registrations must be made by the end of the day Sunday preceding each class, as no walk-ins the day of the class can be accommodated.  Register by calling 509-229-3414 or use the form at the top of the calendar page at www.artisanbarn.org.

July 11:  String Painting Art with Nancy Attebury (kids should wear paint shirts) & fused glass with Sherry Seeh

July 18:  Drawing with the kids modeling with resident artisan Alison Oman & block printing with Jeanne Leffingwell

July 25:  Collage to tell a story with resident artisan Alison Oman & Fimo clay with a stems and butterfly theme with resident artisan Carole Galloway

August 1:  Cartooning with Tiffany Sheely & Faerie Aeries and Troll Houses with Sue Dahmen

August 8:  Accordian book with Laurel Macdonald and Debi Robinson-Smith & decoupage using fabric with Sue Dahmen

August 15:  Tie dye a t-shirt (kids bring shirts) with Arlene Falcon & Fimo clay in frames with resident artist Carole Galloway
